How to make Tirokafteri (Spicy Feta) from Scratch at Home

Homemade Tirokafteri | Spicy Feta Recipe:

  1. This spicy feta recipe is simple, quick and easy, and uses just a few fresh and flavorful ingredients. First we’re going to start by loosely chopping up one jalapeno pepper, other spicy peppers like long hots are fine too. I like to leave the seeds in because it adds an extra spiciness in the end, but if you’re afraid and want it more mild just take out the seeds.

  2. After the pepper is chopped, take one clove of garlic and again loosely chop it up.

  3. Place the pepper and garlic into a food processor and add red pepper flakes and 3 to 4 tablespoons, or 50 grams of extra virgin Greek olive oil

  4. Pulse the mixture a few times so everything can get chopped up and set it aside for later.

  5. Next, take a block of feta cheese, approximately 300 grams or 10 ounces, and begin to crumble it into a bowl. Guys, if you can get the imported stuff, do it. Trust me, it will have way more flavor.

  6. After the feta is crumbled, add in 150 grams or 5 ounces of full fat Greek yogurt.

  7. Once that’s done, add in all of our spicy stuff, and begin to mix everything together so they can all get to know each other. It’s like a spicy Greek party.

  8. This spicy feta dip goes perfectly with warm Greek pita bread, and can also be served as a trio along with tzatziki and hummus.
